Healthcare —> Technology Group

Anyone ever go from HC IB to tech IB? If so could you provide some insight on why? Have a phone screen for FT role at an EB in their tech group and would love to hear anyone’s reasons for HC -> Tech. I did my SA stint in the healthcare group at a MM bank.

Thank you!

Have been/ am in the health-tech space for ~2 years. I would say the biggest thing is just using something quite literally like health-tech innovations as a bridge. If you had any experience during SA with any health-tech related deals then you're golden. Pretty much describe how, at a high level, that introduced you to tech as an industry and you were more curious to learn about the other competitors, operating models, tech specific multiples that have to be considered in those scenarios, etc. If not, you can always say that you thought HC would be great, but you enjoy tech for reasons a-z and that can be tied to broader activity. It would also be helpful, independent of which of those two routes you take, to be aware of what specific vertical in tech this group operates in. I think the biggest thing is having fluidity in your story, right. That may look like: thought I wanted to do HC --> did my SA where I got exposure to x --> this was a gateway for an interest in tech and I took a specific fascination to [operating models, tech valuation considerations, etc) --> moving forward I'm more interested in tech and I know your group does [z], which I enjoy because of 1, 2, and 3
