Hou --> NYC

I have a few second rounds for NYC coming up, but I have a lot of Houston second rounds left. If I go to Houston for the summer and perform well, how likely is it that the firm will send me to NYC for full-time the following summer? And if I don't accept with that firm, what will my chances be for full-time recruiting?

If you ask to transfer to NYC they'll usually let you go. kids do this from Chicago to NY all the time. we don't like it, but don't stop it.

If you have an offer in hand at the end of the summer, you should be able to land a gig in NYC for FT.

I've heard a few success stories, just try not to piss off any vps/mds. I was "nicely threatened" that some of them had extensive connections and could block your entry to other firms if you chose to deny the FT offer.

That's no doubt an extreme case, but yeah a lot of houston firms are very adamant on keeping their interns. If you want to leave, they can't do anything about it.
