Houston vs. NYC IB

I have been accepted to a top 15 MBA program that places well in Investment Banking (my interested post-MBA career path)

I am from the Houston area and I am an engineer in the oil and gas industry, so part of my inclination is to come back to Houston and do energy investment banking in Houston. I wanted to know the pros/cons of a Houston IB job when compared to a NYC IB job. Also, what are the top banks in Houston?

Thanks

Investment Banking LinkedIn Review

“With FIG and private markets always being a super targeted aspect of banking for me, the linkedin review was firstly helpful in refining my background, but tangentially valuable in helping develop recruiting strategies going forward. I found that Andre is a very direct and methodical person, and the directness he offers is always super helpful in driving quick and decisive changes. Concluding the session, he offered me additional resources for review given his expertise, as well as further insights into FIG recruiting, offering himself for future mentorship on the technical side. Looking forward to working with him more in the future.”

“Markus provided an incredibly personalised and valuable session. He took the time to thoroughly review my experiences and help me identify which ones would be most relevant and impactful to use in my answers. He also worked closely with me to refine my existing responses, offering thoughtful suggestions on how to strengthen them, communicate my experiences more effectively, and ensure my answers highlighted my skills and achievements in the best possible way. I particularly appreciated how tailored his guidance was to my individual background and needs, rather than simply providing generic advice. The session was engaging, insightful, and genuinely helpful, and I came away feeling much more confident in my answers. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and would absolutely love the opportunity to have another session with Markus in the future!”
