How do you deal with heat?
I used to work in a start-up with a very lenient dress code (shorts and polo isn't unusual) and I'm pretty big. Now I switched to IB and I can't stand wearing the suit when it's 35C degrees outside. I can't stand the heat, I'm sweating spaghetti and I don't know what to do. Any tricks up your sleeve? Maybe specific brands or types of clothing you wear?
Any help would be appreciated (this is not a troll post)
Good undershirt is clutch so that you don’t soak through your dress shirts and wear them out quickly. I also wear breathable Nikes on the way to the office so my feet don’t cook in dress shoes and keep my blazer off when commuting, I bottom sleeves and a few top buttons. But yeah it sucks, nothing ruins the day like breaking a sweat on the commute
any brands for undershirts you'd recommend? also isn't the sleeve visible/weird under the shirt?
I use ones from Saxx - they’re a great body fit, seem to last long without yellowing themselves, and keep most sweat away from my dress shirts.
As for seeing the sleeves - yeah you could see through it I guess, but many people wear shirts like this and it’s more noticeable around the neck / tie area, no one really cares though and I haven’t heard anyone ever commenting on it
What firm do you have to wear a suit at?
I stick to being indoors.
Edit: because we have AC, do you not have AC? You should really get AC.
the problem is getting to work without sweating insanely with public transport and all
nothing worse than starting the day feeling sticky
Who tf wears a suit anymore in IB
Lots of Seniors at good firms. Pleb.
We can't role up to Blackstone in a shirt and chinos.
Tbf I have seen ppl in ER roll up in polos and jeans while only coming in 3 days a week. So ur experience might be a little different than the most of us
1. Undershirt is essential in the summer time
2. Shave your armpit hair and pubes so you don't stink up and down
3. Wear lotion and hair gel but not too much because the more you wear, the more you sweat on your head and body
4. Invest in a bottle and always fill it up with ice and cold water
5. Keep a pocket rag on you at all times
6. Take the suit off when walking outside. If your bank requires you having a suit on, then dress in the bathroom and take off all that shit when leaving or arriving at the office
7. Talk to your bank's IT department to regulate AC properly indoors
8. Avoid dark clothing as it absorbs heat
You can wear shorts & t-shirt for commute and change when you get to the office. Even better if there is a gym or just showers.
In the office, jacket is off anyway, & sleeves up.
Fully shave including leggs, gotcha
Linen/Cotton blend suits and shirts help a lot.
USB belt attach fan for the metro/underground. Its a game changer.
I change in the office and just wear shorts and t shirt to work. Depends whether your firm has cupboard space.
I'm simply cool.
role checks out
This is from before you joined HS, kid.
