How do you make a networking call fun?
I'm a current undergrad student trying to learn more about the art of a networking call and would love to hear your perspectives. I understand the usual 'small talk - ask about work - advice - ask for referral' process but I also feel like that's so repetitive and I'm worried the person will feel used/bored and the connection isn't on a deeper level. How do I make a networking call fun and engaging? Would you feel like your time is wasted if you hop on a call with a prospect and spend 90% of the time small talk?
Let it flow like a normal conversation / talking to your friend who works at another bank to inquire about their group, unless they want it to be a Q&A call.
Find similarities to relate on.
This. You should mostly be networking with individuals you have something in common with (I.e. same alma mater, same previous employer, same hometown, etc.) and leverage that to build a connection
Thanks! I'm just not sure how the convo should flow, especially if its a group I already network and research on and don't have a whole lot of question to ask
There should be a thread on good questions to ask during networking calls
