How do you track your hours?

I didn’t have to do this at my old bank and now this thing is a pain. Have two questions:

  1. What do you include? For example if you go to work at 9 and leave at midnight- do you put all 15 hours of work or exclude downtime or lunch? If you do extra work on a project (prepping or training) do you count that too? Do you ever feel like staffers could think you are exaggerating?

  2. What is best way to login your hours so you don’t forget when you have to send that sheet weekly? By Monday I already forgot last Monday’s hours and/or projects
