Money is not always the only reason, or even always the primary reason. BUT it is always a reason.

All the shit about being challenging and interesting is definitely true, but if bankers were getting paid like their peers their age, they wouldn't be doing banking...trust me.

sleepyguybChallenging and interesting? You must be dumb.

Have you had any other jobs other than banking?

Before I was a banker, I was in an "Elite Management Trainee Program" at a Fortune 20 company. Then a Management Consultant.

While banking isn't rocket science, professional baseball, or being a rockstar, it is infinitely more interesting and challenging than the majority of business jobs out there.

Have you considered that you are the dumb one and maybe none your superiors give you any good work to do?

Ok I'll speak up... all else being equal, I'm definitely in it for the money. You could work with smart people in a variety of other careers as well, however the chance to make as much money isn't there. I'm short-term greedy vs. long-term greedy though.
