Curious to hear from people who got offers. How many relevant internships (IB, PE, HF, VC, etc.) did you have on your resume by recruiting? Including the incoming sophomore summer internship if recruiting was before that. Would also be helpful to know if you went to a target for context.

2 local boutique IBs. Sophomore summer was going to be a 3rd but it was cancelled due to covid.
Nice. Two questions would help for context: - target? - BB/EB?
None. Non-target non diversity. At BB for SA. Converted to FT. Had good gpa and extracurriculars. No networking.

Was that 3 separate internships or did you get locked in for a couple summers? I know UBS would say you needed to do two summers in WM.
Zero internships. semi-target. no work experience.
10 applications, 3 offers. one of them from Google. 1 BB.

EB recruiting was so early that I only had my freshman summer experience, where I did not do an internship
VC internship + small boutique M&A ----> EB
Hadn't started the M&A role before I received my offer fairly early in the cycle, and had good leadership + middling GPA of 3.8X
Target or non-target?
According to the "Comprehensive Target School List" thread my school is a Target, but I've also heard it called a Semi-Target

UK target, zero relevant internships, zero spring weeks, good grades and extracurriculars. Applied late in the cycle to 5 BBs, got final round interviews from 2, and received one offer.
Diversity hire...
Diversity hiring is not a thing in the UK as much as in the US.
There are some advantages for people with disabilities, full-time caring responsibilities, refugees, etc. Of course, none of that applies to me.
If you’re implying I received help from organisations such as SEO, I didn’t. Being white and middle-class disqualifies you from applying.
It is actually not that uncommon to land SA gigs at top banks in London without any prior experience, as most students who do have prior internships are internationals who got them in their home countries through family connections. Also, coming from a top target obviously helps a great deal.

God damn this industry has gotten competitive. I followed a band around the country my summer after freshman year and lifeguarded after sophomore year... guess my gpa was enough back in the late 00s

Non-target, basically did a very average investment management internship before recruiting for IB. I wasn't really going for NYC so I ended up at a MM in a Midwest city that is more what I was looking for. Did my internship and got a FT offer so I'm happy!

LM PE, investor marketing research position, investment promotion agency research, now going into work as an investment analyst at a large pension for my 4th internship --> not one call from any BB or regional banks. One call once from a local boutique lul.
Not really a VP incoming SA at a bank next summer - if someone knows how lmk how to change title
non core - internships in pe, vc, startup, Investment banking, and then credit (this summer); has a few more but not on resume when I applied
