How Oil and Gas Industry will perform in next 5 years?

I am now involved in the recruiting process of investment banking, especially interested in the oil and gas industry. I am fascinated by the huge macroeconomic/ political. global importance in this field.  However, with the trend of new energy, this industry is rapidly involving with the deployment of ESG commitment. How do you think the traditional oil and gas industry would still keep ahead or will be negatively influenced by the green economy revolution?

If this was predictable, we'd all be very rich

Generally, I'd imagine that as time goes on the traditional oil and gas industry will gradually divest from its old operations and move towards acquiring and/or setting up electricity divisions which a marketed as "100% green". Of course, it'll take a long time to divest from oil and gas, but I have little doubt that it won't happen

Essentially, the best oil and gas firms will become part of the green revolution. The worst will be hit with regulation after regulation and falter over time

Then again, I'm not educated in this specific area, so don't take my word for and find a more reputable source
