How the fuck does Dartmouth screen candidates?
This is unrelated to the recent CVP posts but I remember previously they'd reach out to someone with fuck all on their CV for an SA interview/networking event.
Similarly they have so many mandates for good firms, it feels like your career is fucked if you don't fit Dartmouth's profile.
Is it really about uni at the end of the day? I go to a non-target but except for that, I don't have anything different vs target candidates (in terms of work experience).
I have a BB spring week and an SA in M&A but never had any luck with Dartmouth's EB or buyside mandates.
Not really about me. Honestly curious if anyone has any info on Dartmouths style or preferences.
Lowkey think I should just do some BS masters at LSE or Oxbridge to get some looks.
I'm not sure if you're talking about the first round interviews or getting past their application screen or getting approached by them on Linkedin. If the latter, idk why this is such a big deal given you can just apply to most jobs anyway? If the former, have you ever considered that your interviews just suck?
I went to a semi and haven't had a problem at any of these stages. They're given a mandate by the company they work for, and they find people according to that mandate, in theory.
I meant the former.
I have zero issues or problems with failing interviews, that's on me.
It was the being approached part/screening. This is entitled but I feel like surely if I have good experience + ECs, a first-round is not painful to give since theirs is like 15 mins long.
Thanks anyway
Well idk about the screening once you've actually applied. Definitely could be your uni holding you back, some banks (and recruiters) are simply still elitist.
Regarding the active outreach about opportunities: most opportunities they reach out for in my experience (at the undergrad level) are not exclusive to those they reach out to. You can apply to them outside of that. In terms of how they select who they reach out to you, it could literally be anything. I've seen people with better profiles at better unis than me not get a message from them while I did, and vice versa. I don't think the outreach covers literally every person who fits their criteria. Dartmouth tend to be lazy anyway.
Is it worth paying 30k for a masters just so Dartmouth pays attention to you? Probably not. Sounds like a bit of an overreaction.

Let’s just say they interviewed some interesting people for their buyside internships (EQT and now Ares from what I’ve heard). Is what it is, not much you can do about it.
I got an interview for PWP and am from a non target. Did have a good resume though
Warwick?
Since when was Warwick non-target lmao
Complete BS process, have fetish for Oxbridge, insane focus on diversity and female candidates. They don't let through the brightest nor the ones with the best exp
