How to build a good schedule

Hey guys,

I have been reading this book about time optimization where this guy talks about putting every minute of the day to work. Sometimes, I feel like there's so much time in the day and if I could be more organized I could spend a good chunk of that time learning new things and expanding my mind. The problem is every time I build a new routine or plan, something comes up and I have trouble sticking to it. Do you guys do anything specific to organize your day apart from work stuff? Would appreciate it if you could share your routine/schedule and how you make it work.

I have had the same issue numerous times. Tightly planned schedules just don't work (for me, at least) due to the unpredictability of the day.

The only thing I'll say is that the (early) morning is what you are able to control the best. If you have determined something to be an absolute top priority in your life, schedule it in for the early morning. - an hour in the pool - an hour practicing a new language - an hour reading etc.

Other than that, have a set number of hours in the week that you want to spend on something, but don't set specific times. By being flexible, you're optimising how you're spending your time, and won't feel disappointed if you "miss" something in your schedule. Things won't be regular, but they'll happen.

Hope this helps.
