How to exit from bad group at UBS

Am currently a second year analyst that’s not in a top group at UBS (so not LF, Sponsors, GIG). Deal experience is pretty bad and have not closed any M&A deals. I am in good standing with the group and well-liked but I need to get out. I keep getting dinged in first rounds (if I even get there) because my deal experience is just not there. Should I just go down a tier of jobs like FP&A and style for mediocrity?

Would appreciate any advice, from current or former analysts who have successfully gotten out of one of the worse groups..

Shameless plug, but see the post above on my views of leaving for corporate jobs. Just as a general note, though, the job market is bad. It's not just you, though obviously, UBS in a group with no deal flow isn't exactly the ideal resume.

Edit: Just as a general comment, if you are a top performer, talk to your seniors. Seriously, most seniors do want to help their juniors' careers along, both out of self-satisfaction and to some extent out of a selfish desire for good future relationships. Your seniors most likely have connections to other banks and/or groups that you would then have a hot referral/entry point into.
