How to find Sublease/Roomates for Summer

Going to Boston, how do I find people to room with? I've been trying to use FB groups but seems very hit or miss. Would prefer to live w other people working at banks/finance.

Let me know what sites or advice y'all have, thanks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips and resources to help you find subleases or roommates for the summer in Boston:

  1. WSO Forums: The Wall Street Oasis forums are a great place to connect with others in finance who might be looking for roommates or subleases. Threads like the "Roommate Threads" or city-specific discussions often have people in similar industries looking for housing.

  2. Preferred Areas: If you're working in finance, areas like Back Bay, Seaport, or Newbury Street are highly recommended. These neighborhoods are popular among professionals and offer a mix of luxury apartments and shared housing options.

  3. Budget Considerations: For shared luxury apartments, expect to pay around $2000-2300/month per person. If you're looking for your own luxury place, the range is closer to $2500-3000/month.

  4. Networking: Reach out to colleagues or peers in your internship program or workplace. Many finance professionals prefer living with others in the same industry, and you might find someone through your network.

  5. Alternative Platforms: While Facebook groups can be hit or miss, consider using platforms like:

    • Craigslist: Look for subleases or shared housing in Boston.
    • Reddit: Subreddits like r/BostonHousing or r/Boston can be helpful.
    • Roommate Matching Apps: Apps like Roomi or SpareRoom can connect you with potential roommates.
  6. Timing: Start early, as summer housing can get competitive. However, don’t rush into signing a lease—take time to vet potential roommates and ensure the location suits your needs.

By leveraging these resources and focusing on finance-specific communities, you’ll increase your chances of finding compatible roommates or a suitable sublease.
