How to get better at "rolling with the punches"?

I'm currently working on securing a sophomore summer offer (so that I can have something finance-related on my resume for SA 2026 recruiting), and I have been struggling quite a bit with the constant flow of rejections I've been facing, especially when it comes to places where I got cut after making it to the final round.

I know that this is just the reality of the industry, and I've made sure to keep on applying no matter what, but I am starting to get demotivated after having this happen multiple times. Does anyone have tips for keeping your head up when dealing with this? Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips to help you stay resilient and keep your head up while dealing with rejections:

  1. Network Intensively:

    • As highlighted in the "Overwhelmed here, words of wisdom would help" thread, networking is crucial. Keep building connections and seeking advice from industry professionals.
  2. Stay Positive and Persistent:

    • From the "Resilience in the face of rejection" thread, it's clear that maintaining a positive attitude and continuing to apply is essential. Remember, persistence often pays off.
  3. Learn from Each Experience:

    • Use each rejection as a learning opportunity. Reflect on what went well and what could be improved for future interviews.
  4. Seek Support and Encouragement:

    • Engage with peers or mentors who have gone through similar experiences. Sharing stories and advice can provide motivation and new perspectives.
  5. Focus on Self-Improvement:

    • Continue to enhance your skills and knowledge. This could involve taking relevant courses, attending webinars, or reading up on industry trends.
  6. Stay Organized and Set Goals:

    • Keep track of your applications and set small, achievable goals to maintain momentum and a sense of accomplishment.
  7. Take Care of Your Mental Health:

    • Ensure you are taking breaks and managing stress effectively. Activities like exercise, meditation, or hobbies can help maintain a healthy balance.

Remember, the journey to securing a finance role is often challenging, but staying resilient and proactive will increase your chances of success.

Focus on the end goal.

The rejections must become just another part of the process. You must become as an investor-  You need to post mortem and continually improve.

You dont get great overnight, it's a 1% bit by bit game.

Once you get to the goal you can bask in a superb satisfaction as you plan the next goal.
