How to take advantage of being in New York for the summer?

I just finished my freshman year at a semi-target in California and started working at a small private equity fund in the city for the summer (300mm aum). Besides learning as much as possible, what should I do in terms of networking to take advantage of the city. Since I go to school in the west coast, some top groups are inaccessible, but I was seeing if I could take meet people from those groups here. I'm really interested in restructuring and am interested in PJT RSSJ/Evercore. Where should I start to network with those firms. I know they are top groups but two people from my school were hired at one of those groups for the last 2 years straight so I am confident that I will have a chance although I don't go to Harvard/Wharton. Any networking tips would be much appreciated. I'm already talking with west coast groups/mds so just focused on NY specific right now.
