How tough is it to break into regional boutiques?

For reference, I am speaking about banks similar to the ones mentioned in this article:

https://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/boutique-i…

I am a junior at a strong state school, though a non-target, who is looking to break into IB. This summer, I will be interning at a well known IB (can be considered a BB to some), but at a satellite location. Although the internship is not in the IBD division, I am interning within the investment bank, so I'll be placed into LDCM, DCM, ER, etc. Therefore, although I am from a non-target, I think that I will have great experience compared to most non-target students.

After the summer, I want to try my best at landing a FT role in IB.

Will I competitive for these banks? Are these banks still very competitive?
