Best Response
asiamoneyActually I would do a lot of research on the firm, its background, culture, positioning in the industry, what makes it unique, etc.

I got rejected from a lot of (not that prestigious) places this recruiting season, and then got an offer from a more selective BB because I had really great "why bank X" answers.

This. I think coming up with a logical reason why you prefer a certain bank over others is a big advantage in interviews that often gets overlooked in favor of cramming for technical questions.

My advice is to do your best to turn the interview into a conversation between you and your interviewers. As soon as they ask if you have any questions for them that's your cue to spend the rest of the interview asking them about their groups, why they chose the firm, etc... People love to talk about themselves.

Wait, so you guys don't use the "because of the culture" response to "why bank X"?

Tips to kill an interview:

1.) Like stated, make it a conversation. 2.) Don't let him/her control the flow. 3.) Penetrate with questions if there is any silence at all. 4.) Smile. Magic fingers.

On same the boat as you.. last interview was on Wednesday.. waiting for a response as we speak.. if nothing happens.. delaying graduation and I have a 3.5+ at a target ;x. But also I got kinda fucked b/c of tuition issues and access to OCR in the middle of winter break
