IB: ECM

Hey guys, I am 22 year old boy that recently moved from Portugal to Spain, Madrid to do a internship in well Known bank in Equity Capital Markets. This internship came along with a master in corporate finance and investment banking. To be honest it has been a difficult 3 months, I only started to learn Spanish 2 weeks before moving Spain and I struggle a bit. Besides that, I had never worked before and I wasn’t really prepared to do things quickly in excel and PowerPoint. Basically I am not really happy because there is a lot of pressure and I don’t really like the environment. I am learning a lot but ECM is not really about learning how to invest, you just basically work a lot on excel and PowerPoint in order to make presentations to investors, research analysts in public transactions. I am also still getting used to work until 22:30/23:00 and go work, cook dinner etc. I just would like to know your opinion. Of course that I want to finish this internship but I am not sure if I want this on the long run. I wish I could be on the buy side like in a hedge fund, asset manager or even in trading, just trying to do something more fulfilling and interest but I don’t know if it’s better for me to hold more 1 or 2 years in IB. Let me know your opinion. Thank you
