IB Networking and MBA Questions

  1. How many people do you tend to network with when you’re an undergrad for each bank? Or do you stop at a certain point, like when you get to a MD?
  2. How do you update people you network with? Do you tell them if you got an internship, even if it’s not with their firm?
  3. How important is an MBA to IB/PE/HF? Is it more if you want to have a career change, or do you still need it if you want to progress in the same field (say analyst->associate->...->MD)?

Depth always better than breadth. Find a few analysts (preferably on your school recruiting team) and get to know them through ideally one 20-30 phone call and a few follow up emails every 4 weeks or so and one final during the start of interviews. No MD's needed usually.

Not sure who u mean by refer. MDs can refer but usually better to go through normal recruiting channels. MD referral can go a long way for non targets
