If you don't convert a BB summer, but can apply to summers again next year, are you more or less competitive?
I'm clearly having panic attacks about my conversion hahahahaha need some type of coping mechanism please.

If it was a soph summer internship, having that internship on your resume makes you wayyyyy more competitive in terms of getting into the interview.
As for how not getting a return looks, its not great. I'd try and talk circles around the internship so they know you had it and know "why you want to go somewhere else."
It’s in the UK but it’s the equivalent of a junior summer. I’m doing a masters so can apply for junior summers again essentially. Would u say that overall, despite the lack of conversion, I’d still be in a stronger position than I was this year?
Have seen multiple cases like this and my feeling is that you are more competitive as long as you respond ok to the "why didnt get return offer question".
As long as you did not convert for a valud reason, fine by me. I’ll probably try to ring someone in your group to fact check what you say though, so do not lie.
But overall, the struggle for a second summer internship won't as bad (?)
Definitely stronger. You'll get interviews - up to you to get the offer then. All the people I know with a previous BB SA found other SAs (or FT) pretty easily (London - target MSc).
