And of course litquidity (former JEF analyst) is running cover for him on IG.
Probably one of the worst accounts ever made
I unfollowed litquidity just for this reason alone. Such a Handler shill. Litquidity's every other ig story was either about sucking up to handler or just hyping up whatever he said.
what a weird pr move. could have just been quiet but could not resist trying to defend himself in public so he tries to pin the blame on the associate. so now tells people that jefferies employs cocaine and fetanyl users inadverdently
agreed, didn’t have to post that. tasteless behavior
I am dumbfounded. What a disgusting and braindead move.
If I was a Jefferies client, this would seriously concern me - not because of the drug use but because I’m being advised by a firm run by a POS with zero EQ.
He shouldn't have said anything, kind of weird / tacky / impersonal to the family. Everyone would learn the truth eventually regardless. Such a weird own goal.
he's a fragile person who clearly had a mental breakdown when he was getting criticized when this went down. His need to be seen as right supersedes any respect he has for his juniors or their families.
Did he really have a breakdown? Can this asshole get bullied into say a more extreme action?
Exactly. It left the news cycle. He could have just left it alone and continued playing lip service to "improving working conditions."
Instead he has to do all this. It's like being a decamillionare ain't enough for him.
You have a mental disability don't you? Or are you Rich's burner account? It is one or the other.
By Rich's own admission then, Jefferies doesn't drug test its employees for hard drugs and risks its clients, has a culture so bad that it leads employees to use drugs or knowingly employs hard drug users. What a PR move for the ages.
Under normal conditions, taking stimulants or prescription drugs doesn't cause death. So you could equally argue that the grueling hours actually is the cause of death. You're just conveniently cherry-picking to support your argument. Nice try, though.

Disgusting behaviour, condolences to his family, they don’t need this complete invasion of privacy of someone who just passed away.
Yes it’s an asshole move. No it’s not blaming. It’s the result of an autopsy. He died of drug use
Why would you post such personal things about a person on IG…. That’s insane, hope this guy will get sued by family members
Their lawyer would get a steep fine for filing a frivolous lawsuit with no basis in law. In America it is really hard to punish people for repeating publicly available information. Freedom of speech and all that
Being tone deaf isn't illegal.
Absolutely unacceptable. I hope Carter's family can find their peace but cannot imagine anything will fill the void left behind. To all of you in the trenches: please take care of yourselves, it is simply not worth your personal wellbeing.
I can’t stand Rich Handler or rather Dick Handler. Absolute tool and disrespectful af to post that. No need for that stupid ass post. Condolences to the kids family though.
This is completely shameful behavior by Rich and he runs a sweatshop which abuses junior employees. I don’t think anyone should give Jefferies their business when they mistreat their employees this badly, and I think it’s entirely possible or likely that the next analyst or associate who drops dead comes from Jefferies.
If he hadn’t been working 100+ hour weeks, I don’t think he would have been doing coke and the fact that he died is probably related to his body being worn out / in bad shape from the working conditions.
Everytime I’m working 100+ hours a week, it’s impossible to get through without abusing nicotine and alcohol. It’s just too painful otherwise. This is a rotten industry and Jefferies is the worst of the worst.
How does alcohol help? Personally alcohol makes it worse for me because it affects sleep I.e. I need a full weekend of uninterrupted catching up of sleep to recover from lack of sleep during the week
Spoken like someone who has never been a borderline alcoholic
Alcohol helps you fall asleep at 5 am when you’re too wired from working for 22 hours straight at an intense clip.. yes it affects sleep quality but it helps you get to sleep

I ultimately blame banking as one of the prime causes.....here is why.
I don't think that he was doing coke to keep working late. He had an adderall prescription which will focus you much better than coke. However, I still blame banking.
Sadly, I've been in the following situation in my analyst years: You work a brutal 100 hour week and then maybe you catch a free hour before passing out. Instead of relaxing like a normal person, you try to cram as much as you can within that hour. So, instead of drinking a beer and watching a little tv, you instead slam 2 bourbons and 3 beers in one hour as that's all the time you have. Fortunately for me, that won't kill you, but suppose someone takes it a step further and fills that hour with hard drugs to get the most kick in the shortest amount of time.....well that's very dangerous and I think that's what happened ultimately driven by his banking schedule, some poor personal decisions, and a likelihood of him not knowing the fentanyl was in the coke as well.
Very sad. May Carter rest in peace.
You can blame banking but we all know what it's like and chose to go into it regardless. No one is forcing us.
You could also blame the person that decided to do hard drugs ... I didn't.
You could also blame the people sneaking fentanyl into cocaine.
But what you shouldn't do is blame an employer when he gives you exactly what you ask for: a shit ton of money straight out of college and no work life balance.
You can blame him when he blasts autopsy reports of dead ex-emplpyees on social media, presumably without consent of the dead person's families though. That's a dick move.
No offense, but this is a little bit incoherent.
You blame someone for choosing banking because it's their personal choice but you don't blame someone for doing hard drugs which was also their choice. And somehow employers are completely blameless for the personal choices that they make which affect their employees.
Also, while I agree that we choose banking, I don't think that gives someone the right to abuse others. Just because you sign up for a job does not make you a slave to that employer. And unfortunately people can get caught in a situation where they can't immediately quit their job or they are looking for another position. Carter had just joined Jefferies. Who knows he might have been looking for an assoicate exit like so many of us. To say, he asked for this because he doesn't quit on the spot when being grinded into the ground by his employer is a little ridiculous. It has some truth to it but that's not the full story of employer and employee relationships at work. You can't just snap your fingers and magically get another job.
Trust me dude. If people could choose to leave their jobs as easily as you think from an employer, a lot of the shit that goes on in banking and the workplace in general would not be going on.
Side note: this also seems like a great way to wash your hands clean as a dogshit MD. Make your analysts work 110 hours a week on dumb bullshit that could be better organized but you know it's really their fault because you they chose this.
There’s a difference between working 80 hours a week and total slavery and degradation of physical health. I would absolutely not have done banking again if I had known just how bad it was at my sweatshop (have experienced fainting, bad heart palpitations, and a not so good medical scare where I almost fucking died). Abuse is wrong and risking death for a job is insane regardless of how much we get paid. Take your “you’re getting paid so much out of undergrad and knew what you were getting into” and shove it up your ass. The pay absolutely does not fucking justify the level of abuse and there is no way in hell I would have signed up for this shit if I knew just how bad it could get.
Comparing illegal drug usage to a multinational company in a highly developed nation which is mandated by law to provided safe working conditions to its employees...
oh ok summer associate hardo.
Rich has all the money in the world… But deep down we all know he’s small, insecure, and gets satisfaction from IG likes from 22 year old boys. Truly fascinating behavior.
This more than anything. It's important to remember how 90%+ of the higher ups in this industry are truly broken and sad souls
What exactly is to be gained by posting that your employee did drugs & died? I don't think he gets that he's shooting himself in the foot.
Between this, the constant stream of him posting videos of him partying etc...I don't get why anyone hasnt taken away his social media. There's nothing good coming out of it and he's clearly too much of a boomer to know how to use it properly lol
What a chode, holy shit.
Hopefully Jeff gets wiped out when zombies take over or in nuclear war
What an asshole..probably trying to use this to get into the Trump circle mentioning fentanyl
Man, I forget the name of if, but there’s an axiom that states that if an online argument goes on a long enough, the probability of someone making a “Hitler/Nazis” comparison approaches 100%.
We need a similar axiom that states that as any online discussion about any topic continues, the probability of a miserable Democrat trying to find some way—ANY way—to tie it to Trump and reflect negatively on Trump approaches 100%.
FYI, it’s not 2017 anymore. Randomly bashing Trump with (usually fake) smears is no longer en vogue. That behavior is why most of the country doesn’t even pay attention to the legacy media anymore, not even moderates and apolitical people trust them.
More than half the country voted for the Bad Orange Man six months ago. He’s not perfect, like every other President. There’s good and bad, like every other President. You may hate his style, but Trump is the President, and that’s that. He is not a dictator, and you are not part of some heroic resistance.
Constantly dragging his name into conversations like this which have nothing whatsoever to do with politics will win exactly zero people to your viewpoints. Your comment does not make Trump look bad, it makes you look mentally unstable. Trump has nothing to do with Rich Handler. Every bad thing that happens is not connected to Trump. And as much as you might hate to hear this, you might actually like Donald Trump if you met him one-on-one, because I’m told by friends of mine who have that in private he can be surprisingly personable and charming.
I voted for Trump but just found it funny you went off on the guy for somehow tying this to Trump bu then you wrote an essay on it lmao
Not going to derail this by making it political (which you have a right to accuse me of given I mentioned a politician). Sad and unfortunate death of someone, and I think Rich is just as sleazy as Lutnick given the cultures of Jefferies and Cantor are somewhat similar. That is all.
Pretty backhanded “miss you” post Rich.
What a piece of shit assclown
Reminds me of this thread
Unfortunately, this kind of post is very on brand from this douchebag
