internship w/ no guarantee of an offer
I've been offered an internship at a boutique investment bank that will run for 3 months from January to April. It's paying a small stipend. The problem is that, even if I perform well, I still may not be extended a FT analyst offer.
I graduated in 2008 and am currently working at a financial services research firm. I hate the work, but I do a good job, and I'm on good terms with my boss.
Do you think this internship is worth it in this environment? Would it give me a leg up when I'm shopping around for FT analyst positions afterward?
I'd take it. Bust your ass, go balls to the wall, so even if they don't hire you, atleast you have some great recs. And if they're not total sleazebags, I am sure they'll help you find something. But honestly if you add value, other than the fact that deal flow might dry up, dont see any reason for them to not hire you.
bump. i'm in a similar situation, but a 2009 grad and I dont have as good of a current job.
I took an internship this past summer at a HF knowing that there would be no FT offer at the end of the summer. I would 100% take that offer and use it to get some interviews at other firms IF they don't end up giving you a FT offer. But at this point, getting a foot in the door definitely can't hurt
