Investment Banking Bonus Vesting
Is it common for investment banks to vest analyst bonuses over three years? I'm getting my first year stub bonus in full at the end of the year, but all full-year bonuses going forward will be paid 50% the year it's earned, and 25% each over the subsequent two years.
My contract has 50% of my 1st year bonus vesting after completing my 2nd year.

Wow, that sucks.
I’ve only heard of centerview doing that
Nah, not for bonus its pretty much cash for regular. Only for signing bonus you need to pretty much complete 3 years.
Trying to up that A-A promotion ratio internally eh?
Definitely not the case at my BB, don't think I've heard that from any friends at other BBs either
All in cash before VP at mine.
Yeah all cash until VP for 2 BBs I've worked at
Definitely off-market and uncool. Unheard of frankly, other than at Centerview.
Fuck that. That's complete bullshit, discourages exit opps and I'd have to think kills morale.
Unless the bonuses are above street it seems to me like the banks trying to cut costs.
Wouldn’t discouraging exit ops be something banks would want?
i don’t it discourages morale as much as it discourages exit opps - which sucks but then you kinda know if your bank is receptive to it before joining so
