Is it more worth it to get a computer science degree rather than a business/finance degree?
Hey gang. I feel like a business/finance degree is mostly useful for that, business/finance. However, if you ever want to switch over to a tech role like software engineer, developer etc. you will not be able to do that with a business/finance degree.
If you have a Computer Science degree, you would be able to work in all those previous jobs (I know you need a bit of experience too) and make decent money. But also, you should be able to transition into any finance role, even IB.
So most important, by having a CS degree, it should allow you try out finance and see if you like it. If not, you can then switch to the tech role. This way you're not forced into your career path.
And one more thing. I feel like business/finance degrees are quite common. From my point of view, they seem easier to get than a CS degree. It would make you stand out a bit more if you have a CS degree. And I genuinely believe you can help a company out a lot more with you know how to program, write algorithms etc. And employers themselves probably know how hard it is to get a CS degree, so they'll see that and probably think your more serious.
How correct is my theory?
