Jobless Senior - Am I screwed?

Hey guys,

So long story short, I'm a senior at a Target school and I worked in GS GIR over the summer. But at the end of the summer I asked not to be considered for an offer because of my desire to put my career on hold to pursue military service. Fast forward 6 months later and I was just disqualified for military service in the Navy due to a knee injury I suffered in HS.

I'm going to start reaching out to all of my contacts and recruiters and try to find something. I'm not set on IB because I know there's always the opportunity to move later. Does anyone have any advice or similar success finding a full time job at a BB this late?

Going from pursuing my dream and essentially having an offer in hand for the Navy to jobless in February of senior year certainly isn't fun but I'm trying to make the best of it at this point, and I would love to hear your thoughts.

Well, if you did a good job and were to receive a return offer, you could go back, talk to the GIR Management at GS, and explain the situation.

If you did a poor job, forget about GS altogether.

Most firms are full with their 2016 classes now but you could look around as a lot of them have immediate hire roles after March/April.

No, you're not screwed.

Take my advice, from this point to mid-March, which is about one month, forget about job search and get extremely good at interviewing by practicing over and over again. And if possible, record and listen almost all fit and technical question. Starting mid-March once you're ready, you could start your job search again but mostly for roles that are immediate start.

Good luck and I am sure you will do well.
