JP Morgan IB: diversity program?
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if any of you could translate this for me because it seems kind of misleading.
J.P. Morgan's Investment Bank offers a nine week internship opportunity in New York for exceptional students of diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native America, or female students) who are currently in their freshman or sophomore year. Internships are available in Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Research, and IB Risk.
Does this mean its only a diversity program? Because I have researched this extensively and it never says anything about minority only. I assumed it was open to everyone. Also, I doesn't say it is a diversity program in the title of the internship.
Lastly, It says minimum GPA 3.5. However, I have a 3.44 GPA from the Ivy I am attending now but had a 3.97 at my previous school. Does that mean cumultive GPA? Would I be eligible?

It mentions candidates who "...are able to demonstrate how they add to the diversity of J.P. Morgan." You may not have to be a minority to join the program but I would definitely try to spin it in some sort of a diversity way.
And you should be alright with the GPA. Use your cumulative.
yea thats the program. i've read the one on the jp morgan website but it seems different on my school's website
I am interested in this too. Wondering how much of a target you have to go to for Risk.
And I am interested in transferring to a better school too. I have a first semester GPA of 4.0.

I had a 3.8 in h.s 3.97 in first year of college won about 10 prestigious national scholarships i am an orphan had letters of rec from a published author/dean of previous school/hedge fund manager who was an alumnus many extracurricular activities/leadership positions had a few jobs while achieving my high gpa in college transferred for my sophomore year to Cornell AEM was accepted to Northwestern/UPenn/Stern waitlisted at UChicago

@masterofpuppets: 'Mark Zuckerberg' has some impressive accomplishments but don't get discouraged if you don't because it doesn't necessarily take all that to get into Cornell. Cornell is a transfer-friendly school and also very well represented on Wall Street. They even have articulation agreements with a lot of two years schools that will guarantee you admission to some of their programs, AEM being one of them. They may restrict you from declaring a certain major within AEM but once you're there you can prove yourself further and do what you want. You're already on the right track with a 4.0. to clarify:
You have some points, however, AEM is a specific major at cornell (along with aap/engineering) that if very difficult to transfer into. it has about a 11% transfer acceptance rate. wharton is 8% as a comparison. also, aem does not give out guaranteed transfers like other schools such as ilr and cals. AEM has recently become its own school, dyson, and thus, admission intot he school is going to become more difficult.
According to the website and Cornell's registrar, there are still articulation agreements for AEM, just only for certain specializations as I mentioned. http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/prospective/admissions/transfer/extern… Read number 6. You can get guaranteed admission to Agribusiness Management, Environmental Economics and Food Industry Management within AEM (The Dyson School). As for the rest, they have enrollment limits and won't guarantee you admission.
Good point. I've honestly never looked into any restrictions so there very well could be some stipulations against changing your specialization after transferring. I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I hope someone can offer you a little more insight into this JPM program.

Those were the answers I got when I asked around.
Two classmates of mine (target school; think H/Y/P/S/M) got this internship my freshman year. One was white, other was indian, both were/are very bright with at least 3.7+...

Guys, I am interested in transferring to Cornell CAS for Econ, not AEM. So how different/difficult will the process be?
And like I asked before, how difficult will getting into IB Risk be? I mean it's MO, so it should be a bit easier right?
