JP Morgan - Mid-Corporate Investment Banking Group
What is JP Morgan's Mid-Corporate Investment Banking Group?
Is it an investment banking group that works with MM companies?
Do they do more than just source deals, or is that dependent on the location?
I would appreciate any information you guys have.
Thank you.
deja vu
I'm making it up as I go along.
Yes, they basically just focus on middle market sized companies, and leave the big companies for the real investment bank.
The Dallas JPM Mid-Corp office got blown up last year, everyone at junior level fired.
JP Morgan's Commerical Banking or Mid-Corporate Banking has better exit opps? (Originally Posted: 02/01/2011)
Anybody familiar with these programs? Thank you.
Isn't Mid Corprate banking just their way of saying Middle Market? Seems like a non brainer.
As in Commerical is better?
No.
i'd take mid-corp over commercial...
yup, midcorp over commerical. I know a few people that moved from midcorp to IBD after a year or so
Can you please elaborate on those claims? Thanks
Pretty recent. NYC & Chicago offices.
mid-corp ---(1 or 2 yrs)---> IBD as internal lateral
At large banks they break things up by market size. When I was at HSBC we only had MME and Corporate banking. JPMorgan is much bigger in the states and does things different. Mid Corporate will deal with large, commercial clients, but not at the corporate size. It is higher up the ladder than commercial banking.
All it relates to is the size of the client and the size of the deal you might be analyzing or underwriting.
Thanks for the post guys. So Mid-Corp will have a better chance to lateral than something such as Operation, Commercial banking or Risk Management ?
Yes
"Mid-Corporate" Banking - compensation?? (Originally Posted: 12/04/2012)
JPM's Mid-Corporate group is the most well-known but there are also a couple of other banks that have developed a group similar to this.
Does anyone have recent compensation info at the analyst level and also as you progress (i.e. 2nd/3rd year analyst, associate, etc.)?
I know that base is 60-70K and sign-on is 5-10k, but I have never heard first a first hand account of what the typical expected FY bonus is or what someone actually received this year.
Any info would be greatly appreciated... SB for good answers!
I have a friend in mid-corp banking salary is 60k and sign on 5k. Hasn't gotten a FY bonus yet but he is expecting it to be between 15-25k, which would put position all in around 80-90k. Not sure if this is true across the board.
Excellent, thanks +1 ... any idea of his typical hours/weekends?
Hours during the week are usually 8-7ish (sometimes later). Weekends depends but usually not full days either day. I'd say roughly 60-70 hours/week (and probably falling on the low end of that).
Just wanted to bump this and see if anyone else out there has some current bonus info for corporate and mid-corporate banking groups. I have a lot of SBs too ... thanks!
Does anybody know if J.P. Morgan Mid-Corporate is finished with their superday? (Originally Posted: 03/01/2011)
I tried emailing the recruiter to see whether I qualify for 2nd round, but no luck so far. It has been two weeks.
Probably dinged at this point, if you haven't heard in that long since your first-round it typically doesn't bode well. Sorry.
You could try getting in touch with the actual interviewer, HR is notorious for fumbling the most basic things all the time, just don't get your hopes up.
anybody else?
JPM Mid-Corporate Investment Banking. What do they do? (Originally Posted: 11/07/2006)
All,
I have an interview for an associate position within JPM's Mid-Corporate Investment Banking group (regional office). At first glance it seems these guys are affiliated with corporate banking...however, the job description says they are generalists focusing on M&A and Equity/Debt capital raising.
Does anyone have any more info on these guys? I would be a lateral hire from a boutique firm, and I desire to stay in the middle-market...so it may be good fit. Need your thoughts.
Thanks.
It probably means middle-market corp. finance. This means deals in size between $50m to $1bn. Of course, everyone has different definitions of middle market.
oriented and it seems they function as generalists. However, I wonder if they actually play an execution role. They may simply be relationship/origination bankers...bringing in product specialists in NYC to execute bond offerings, M&A deals, etc.
Can anybody provide more info on these guys?
My friend works at JPM, he said that the mid-corporate investment bank does the same thing as the investment bank, just on a "middle-market" scale.
They execute deals just like any other bankers
they have no product or coverage speciality. and will focus on any company in the middle market range with the help of maybe one other banker from the M&A group or other group if applicable and needed. if you give me your email i can send the description i got when i interviewed there
Thanks! I owe u big.
I'm interested in it too...would you please also send me one? Thanks you very much :)
