JPM Toronto office
Saw JPM build up their IB team in Toronto with a couple of hires recently. Does anyone have insights into the office and the type of work they do? Thanks

By "couple of hires", I am guessing one of those is the Director that joined from CS. Presumably, UBS didn't want this guy.
As if JPM > UBS
They hired two analysts recently and were looking for a VP.
They are a diversified-focused IB team that does in-house modelling and are looking to work with Canadian financial sponsors. Given the incredible JPM platform, I’m bullish on them growing in TO given MS’ and GS’ success.
They don’t have any MDs in Toronto do they? How are they able to secure any deal flow?
There wouldnt an office if there was no MD
I think there’s one MD that oversees CB as well but is connected enough to get IB deal flow. While the name is great, seems like theres limited upper mobility.

MS and GS TO work on US deals so you get great exposure. They wouldn't maintain significant offices here if they weren't producing money. I'm aware of some of the deals they've been on - they've been unsuccessful in closing (for reasons outside of the banks' control) but if they had, the fees would have been enormous.
