JPN bank’s strategy in Project Finance
For those banks only do balance sheet lending without doing any advisory work, here especially Japanese banks with conservative lending styles, how transferable the skillets would be from lending only PF to PE/Bank PF with advisory businesses? Especially, do you think it’s a good idea to join at the Associate stage, and how’s the career outlook compared to the banks that have some advisory work?
Highlight: the bank is new to US market recent years, small team that needs to do literally everything, covering mainly NAMR and LATAM. Co-workers mostly are from Japan. Would anything special I need to carefully think through?
02.27 update: thoughts on the desk that only has syndication deals? Is it realistic to set up origination functions and advisories business in the next several years? Especially, career outlook to enter at Associate level.
Shed more lights on business: strategy is to lend and hold until they mature, earning interest for their investors. Sectors wise covering everything under infra - Energy, Transportation, TMT, Social, Real Estate.
