Lateraling back to Old Bank?

Alright guys, this is a stupid situation.

I interned in a specific industry group at a BB my junior year summer and got a return offer, but turned it down to go to an EB for FT. It made sense at the time but I definitely pissed off at least 1-2 people in my BB group by not returning.

I am nearing a year in at my EB and am realizing I’d much prefer to return to my old BB group (as the industry focus is what I’d like to focus on long term, have 0 interest in the buy-side). Possible to move back? Or should I just recruit elsewhere? It’s tough to tell how many bridges I burned but I know at least a few people would be supportive; just wondering if this is inappropriate or not

I know an analyst who became an associate within the same group, got laid off and went to another group, and came back to the original group after 1.5 years. So, I think you can definitely go back but you just have to formulate your strategy on how to bring it up with the OG group. Best is to reach out to the senior most person you are close with who’s hopefully well liked internally and can vouch for you. Then, take it from there.
