Lateral/Off-cycle hires - How does the promotion cycle work at your bank?

Will be joining a BB at the end of April as effectively a first year analyst (exactly 1 year out of school), but will have a few months of exp. over the new incoming class that will be starting in August. For those that have made the lateral transition, how has your bank typically approached promotions?

They'll be putting me through training with the incoming 2019 class, so my initial thought is that they won't give me the few months of credit for an earlier promotion vs the 2019 class (but likely will be returning to the office after training ends everyday).

Thanks in advance
