LazardMM vs. DB Jacksonville

Potential opportunities at both Lazard Middle Market and DB in Jacksonville. DB is a legit front office IB gig with an industry group. The Lazard MM is sell side M&A and is a firm of much smaller size that will probably give me better exposure and help me climb the learning curve much faster. According to exit opps as well as a better overall experience, what is a better opportunity?

Incomingmonkey1avoid DB Jax. Trust me.
FYI no one trusts people, eg you, who make suggestions without any reasons or logical points to support their suggestion.

Jax DB is a known cost cutting center for DB. They basically outsource all of their back office and admin work to that facility.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

While this was true, that is changing. Probably around 95% of Jax people are BO, but there are a few FO people there. This has been a recent trend with all the major banks. They are starting to move FO people to these offices.

OP, GL with your options can't say much without much color.

Though I don't know anything about Jax DB, but I would avoid it. My BB used to have some regional office that is not in one of the major hubs (i.e. NY, Chicago, SF, Houston). When it comes time for cost cutting, the whole regional office gets blown away. Do not bank on the above saying that BB are moving FO people to regional office and making them essential to IBD operations. It aint happening. NY will always be the major hub.

NY will always be the hub. That's a given. But the industry trend has been leaning towards building FO spots in these regional locations. Dont think they are moving large teams. I have heard of people who did FO work at regional offices and did fine for buyside recruiting. Not going to land top places, but relatively good. Anyways good luck with your decision.

How can we answer this question unless you tell us which Lazard MM office you are talking about? If NY then Lazard hands down. If Chicago I would still say Lazard just in terms of exit opps (though a smaller office). Is Minneapolis (headquarters of Lazard MM) preferable to DB Jax? I'm not so sure, and in that case might go with the bigger name (DB) then the chance to do M&A. Granted Minneapolis is becoming a bigger financial city

Haha I am biased but Minneapolis isn't that bad and probs growing

DB Jax also came to my school for a presentation and I was actually fairly impressed..however again you want to be in NY if possible for DB
