London Infra / Energy / P&U Groups: Best Teams, WLB, Exits and Long-Term Platforms?

Hi all, looking for colour on London IB groups across Infra, Energy and Power & Utilities, especially given the amount of capital going into European energy transition and infra.

Which teams are currently strongest for deal flow, learning, WLB, pay, exits and long-term career prospects?

Need someone in the space to provide some depth.

I have heard that RBC and DC both offer credible analyst training pathways. Exits from Jefferies, RBC, Macquarie and Rothschild are also not materially far off, specifically for Infra PE.

That said, we should distinguish between asset-level and platform-level transactions. BBs, for eg, tend to avoid pure energy asset deals where fees are lower relative to the time and resource commitment.

While for a fund predominantly doing asset deals (eg: CIP), would be surprised if they hire people with no asset deal experience.

Have a good friend at DC Infra and from what I’ve heard that’s not really the case anymore. There isn’t much M&A deal flow there these days, it’s mostly debt advisory

Haven't been in the sector long enough to talk about the other banks mentioned, IDK to be honest. But RBC I can confidently say punches above its weight in Infra. Seen some great exits out of their team
