LSE vs Imperial undergrad

Hi,

I have received offers from LSE BSc Maths and Econ and Imperial BSc Economics, Finance and Data Science. Wondering how the two compare for IB or S&T roles as Imperial’s course is less established but more competitive. Thank you!

Would caviat though that their Economics degree is from the business school so it has little connection to the STEM side of things, Imperial

Would usually say Imperial but because this is a non-STEM degree would have to go with LSE. At my bank Imperial > LSE (very marginally) > Imperial Business School. Culture at LSE makes it more likely for you to do better in recruiting overall anyway, that’s the main drawback of Imperial in that they don’t have that culture.

It might technically be STEM but nobody would really see it that way when you’re recruiting because it’s not a traditional course Imperial offers. You would certainly still have a great chance but I’m just saying it’s not as good as Imperial’s traditional STEM degrees, which is its legacy.

LSE maths reputation isn’t good? Nobody thinks that, and it’s not a maths uni anyway, you’re deeping it too much. By perception, someone doing Maths and Economics at LSE comes across as marginally more clever than someone doing pure Econ at LSE. Maths and econ at LSE is a better degree than the offer you have from Imperial, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that.

LSE. Don't think this is even a question, really.

LSE halls, campus and location is also a LOT BETTER than Imperial

EFDS at Imperial is seriously overrated and it doesn't place as well as you think.

This year the offers have been at mid-market EBs like Moelis for the current EFDS cohort. Last year there was 1 CVP and 1 JPM IBD summer offer but the course itself doesn't lend well to IBD offers consistently enough vs LSE UG.
