Lunch meeting tips
I was surprised to get an e-mail from an HR VP asking me to have lunch with her before I start in June.
I didn't go through any 1 on 1 interviews before landing this, just 1 campus first round, 1 general wine and cheese and 1 super sunday.
Do you guys have any tips on what to do and specifically what not to do?
confirm her marital status before asking her along to the party in your pants
make sure you bring condoms. don't want no baby popping out
some say,
don't do things you wouldn't do to your mother.
then you are in safe bet.
Thanks.
That's what I thought. So if she orders alcohol, desert etc etc just do the same?
How long do you think 1 of these will last? I know most people have lunches w/ MDs so I don't what there will be to talk about w/ VP of HR.
you already got the gig, no need to worry.
Don't order a salad--be a man and eat a burger.
Though possibly a joke, this is actually a very good point. Don't be a douchebag with what you order. It may not be a big deal with a female HR VP, but the first time I went on a 1on1 lunch with my MD, I ordered a steak and he said "Atta boy. I thought you might have been a pussy and ordered a salad". Then we downed a couple of ribeyes, smoked a couple of Domincans, discussed which Eastern European country had the hottest women and went back to the office.
Give her a gift, some chocolates and roses? Also, if the 'date' goes well, give her the card of a divorce attorney and a wink!
LOL!
