Massive Margin Call (2011) Plot Hole

How the fuck was a junior analyst at an investment bank, penn badgley's character, (even if in the risk management department) going out at like 8:30 (he says it's 10pm after the other senior risk analyst has been reviewing data for presumably at least 90 minutes, there's a whole cutscene of him working hard while a bunch of other shit happens) on a Thursday night? Much less with his boss's boss?

Was this just the times (golden age of wall street or whatever) or is risk management just a joke

The Senior Risk Associate (Peter Sullivan) wasn't doing normal work. He was finishing Eric Dale's model on his own time. It's not really a massive plot hole by itself; however, the entire time frame in which the movie takes place ( roughly less than 24 hours from the time Eric Dale hands Peter the flash drive to him in the elevator to the end of the following trading day) is too compressed, probably.

Also, Seth wasn't going out to drinks with his boss's boss specifically. The entire floor(apart from Peter) was going out for drinks to celebrate not getting laid off. They knew each other since they worked at the same desk, but it was the entire floor going out.
