Master Thesis - Subject
Hi guys,
So I'm about to write my master thesis in finance in about 3 months and I haven't really found out anything to write about. I know that I eventually want to land a IBD/PE job, so I would prefer that my subject is towards that career.
I will also try to pitch the subject to different companies in hope of an master thesis internship so I need a subject that they can relate/contribute to.
I'm stuck and have no clue what to write about. Do you guys have any suggestions what to write about and how it should be layerd/executed?

The origination and consequences of the Evergrande debt crisis. Comparison to the 2008 financial crisis (why we see opinion pieces in the NYT and WSJ suggesting this is China's Lehman moment) and an analysis of the potential fallout of a full scale collapse in the Chinese real estate market on the Chinese economy (and subsequently the world economy), global supply chains, and the international debt market. If you end up doing it plz send me a copy!

Seems like a good topic, but what if the crash actually happens before the thesis is done? Do I scrap it then? You can't write about a potential fallout if the fallout happens...
Then write about the actual fallout and impacts! It's a masters thesis so should take what 3 months to write? Plenty of time to incorporate if the crash actually happens!
An interesting read for me would be whether the effects of rapid inflation change the pecking order theory on capital structure, and whether debt/equity financing eventually become cheaper due to inflating dollar denominated currency.
Hmmm and what approach should I go with? How would you research this? What data etc.
Oh I like this, especially in the context of the rising national debt due to covid and in the potential event that some of the US debt gets called (do we print $$ to cover it?) That would be really interesting to see the effect of that on financing costs!
