MDs and VPs - How to ace the info session/coffee chat

Hi all,

In my pursuit to break into the industry I've been fortunate enough to land a couple of info sessions with MDs. I'm currently at a tech start-up and from what I've gathered from some already in the industry, many would kill for even a 10 minute opportunity. Ultimately I understand it's going to be my own story and rapport building that sets me apart from the 40 other Jimbos trying to make a lasting impress. So my question is this:

What can I do to separate myself from the rest of the competition?
What are the most important technical skills you look for?
And lastly, have you ever heard of anyone offering an MD/VP to work for free for 3 months? Thoughts on this?

Thanks!
