Messaging Opposing Bank Post-Closing to Recomment Myself for Lateral--Appropriate?

Hi Y'all, a bit of context here:

I'm currently a first-year analyst at a reputable bank in APAC, recently closed a deal as sell-side advisor with one of GS/MS coverage team as the buy-side advisor. I had great exposure at this deal (leading our bank side's call with GS etc) and I know this GS/MS coverage team was looking to hire a junior with no success. So I was planning to write an email to the GS/MS MD in charge of this deal to congratulate him and introduce myself. Is this too risky a move and will it risk doxxing myself to my team and be labeled as trying desperately to leave etc? Would love some input and strategy!

Full send it. You may ask if the MD has a second to hop on the phone, and then just voice over your ask live. If you had any contact with the VP/Assoc (like speaking to them over the phone during the deal) they would be better to reach out to as well to sound out the temperature. And they are in much less of a position to fuck you over - not that the MD would

100% send the email but be vague in the actual body of the email. A request like this should be done over the phone or in person. I worked at GS/MS in NYC and I know that we used drafting sessions and M&A processes to keep a list of qualified candidates. What better interview than actually watching someone do the job you want them to do. If you impressed the other team, I imagine they’ll be highly receptive and you’ll make the other MD look good if he can poach top talent (recruiting is part of their job).

This isn’t a high risk high reward move, this is just part of the industry. Senior bankers moving to the CFO role of a company we advised, mid-level banker moving to the CorpDev team of a client after a deal, and MDs lateraling between shops all were a pretty common occurrence (happened at least multiple times a year). This is a relationship business, both within the industry (other banks) and externally (clients). The email shows maturity and isn’t much different than what bankers do to bring in new business. Worst case, you build out your network. Just don’t be reckless or say anything negative about your current employer.
