Messing up technical during interview

Hi all,

I recently went through a first round IB interview and did really solid in behaviourals and most technicals, except one pen and paper one related to EBITDA where I was only able to give part of the answer before one of the interviewers walked me through the rest. Was wondering from anyones previous experiences if they’ve ever gotten a second round after experiencing something similar or even worse. I know its out of my control now but was just curious about others experiences.

Thanks!

Recently went through this for FT recruiting. Absolutely bombed 1 technical but also got a 2nd one wrong (though my reasoning was just backwards thinking so easy fix). A couple days later I got the superday, and eventually an offer. I think it really depends on how you personally handled it. We’re you nervous? Did you stumble on your words? We’re you humble? etc. Sometimes they purposefully ask a question that they know you will fumble just to see how 1. you think and 2. how you react to opposition in high pressure situations

I think you’re fine if you delivered it well, answered other technicals flawlessly, and asked confirming questions on the difficult concept(s) following the explanation of the correct answer.
