MM IB Culture Questions

I’d like to preface this by saying I have an odd background to be in the position I’m in, but alas, I have questions.

Former middle office intern at a low tier BB that has been rightfully dogged on in the IB forums (I’m sure you all can guess). Had such a poor experience that it turned me off to the idea of anything IB adjacent. I went to a non target, focused hard on IB, and left with a sour taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I didn’t feel like returning and pivoted into corporate finance with a fortune 20 company. Pay is okay, and it’s a VERY manageable 9-5, but I had a friend reach out about a S&T position at a MM shop recently (think Mizuho-ish).

Curious if it’s worth my time to start pursuing MM positions. Can anyone speak to the culture of NY MMs and their trading floors? Curious if they differ whatsoever from BB and EB cultures.

Also before anyone brings it up, I understand the difference in intensity between my current job and the other jobs I’d be pursuing. I didn’t mind the culture, just didn’t see my last bank as somewhere even remotely safe to grow my career. If for some other reason I’m being a dumbass, just lmk and move on.

Thanks!
