MM PE Junior Internship to BB/EB IB FT?

Rising senior at a target planning to recruit FT for IB this summer/fall. Didn't take IBD SA recruiting too seriously last year, so spending current summer at a MM PE shop. How can I get my foot in the door for FT recruiting, especially given that the process is so much more unstructured than SA recruiting?

Get as much deal related experience as you can and create a selected transaction experience portion under your internship. Try to learn as much as possible and ask to see if you can get your hands on a model during the internship. More importantly learning the processes and understanding the drivers and rationale behind businesses you invest in and being able to articulate it clearly is essential. Also see if you can get any of the partners or MD’s to connect you to some of their buddies in IB, this will probably only work if the PE shop doesn’t hire FT analysts out of undergrad.
