MM to MF Infra

Got a return from my MM M&A bank in T2 city (LA/Chi/SF) but really want to be in NYC. Hoping to land MF infra fund as well someday just not sure if it’s possible given my situation. Would appreciate some guidance on long term routes, if I should FT right now to EB/BB, and any tips on how I can end up at a top infra fund (EQT/Brookfield/BX).

Would love to honestly even start my own fund someday or pivot to corp dev / strategic at a large cap digital infra company. In terms of how I can go from MM banking to this goal, I just want to know if it’s possible.

Not even joking when I say this is word for word the exact path I am on right now even down to the eventual goals later on. Only difference is I am in NYC. I think realistically for both of us, we need to either clutch up in FT recruiting or lateral after 9 months for that MF Infra offer.

OP: I assume MF infra would be similar to typical buyside recruiting as in either on cycle / during 1st year, but realistically I’m realizing a more straightforward play would be to lateral to my bank’s NYC office, then exit to a MM infra fund, and then later on move to MF at a higher role - lol not sure if it’d even be worth at that point tho
