Level: Assc1
Base: $150K
Bonus: $95k
Buckets: (E/S/S)
Really disappointed and confused.
Is that not typical middle bucket comp, seems like a decent number
It might be typical middle, but I was told top bucket, and my performance rating for impact was “Exceptional” (the “E” in E / S / S).
That’s the confusing part. Maybe others have better insights.
What group? I was in same context last year as associate 1 and told top bucket, so checks out
Associate Base is 150K?
Some groups, yes. Others might be $175k.
Anyone from UK?
I heard a range from below 50 to 80+ at Associate 3
An1 -> As1
Base: 100k (90k old)
Bonus: 50k
Top bucket
Really disappointed
Is this UK? US analyst salary starts at 110k and they got their bonuses 6 months ago. Theres another poster above saying base 150k base for associate. Can’t be IBD. IBD is 175k starting everywhere
Canadian and fixed income trading
.
Bonuses sucked once again. Half of MS is straight up looking for a new job/leaving. Place is a joke, if you care about making money don’t work at MS
Record stock price as well…
Do you have a S&T datapoint for MS?
ASO3
Base - 200k Bonus - 100k
I will reiterate garbage comp, and will leave asap
I mean, no hate, but have you seen ms fixed income revenue numbers… Them boys in m&a and equities should eat good tho
any more VP datapoints?
MS new BOFA confirmed?
Not yet... BofA will likely always be at the bottom in terms of comp. The numbers for MS (at least on this thread) aren't great, but they are still higher than BofA. If people at MS are really upset and actually looking to leave, good chance BofA folks will move there and fill those seats lol I am actually considering it myself - better pay (yes, you read that right), better deals and WLB is probably similar.
Yes because they paid low the last 2 years they pay the lowest forever and always
Agree… the numbers in this thread don’t look great but are materially better than what BofA paid last year
Nobody is beating BofA in terms of underpaying people.
Buddy missed the article
Rising 3rd year associate
Base: 225k (new base still 225k) Bonus: 100k
Very very disappointed
I was an analyst for half the year and my W2 says $310k. You got hosed my guy.
did MS over hire or something? these are like bottom of street numbers
most of the street hasn't reported. not sure I'd be expecting blowout numbers from Barc/BAML/UBS
Yeah I was expecting like 100/130/180ish for middle buckets ASO1-3 respectively, which is around what other banks who already reported have paid
Second year associate
Base 225
Bonus 125
Bucket: S/E/E (Mid to Top)
These numbers are bad but not horrendous. Last year BofA ASO1s clipped ~$50k and ASO2s ~$75k. Aren’t 90k/120k pretty standard ASO1 and ASO2 bonuses?
.
Riding associate 2. Same base in ‘25 as 150k. WTF?
Associate 1
Base went from 175k to 225k
Bonus: 130k
Coverage group
-
Yes
Top or Mid?
This looks like a strong bonus (for MS)
Did they change the base salary scale to match EVR/LAZ?
They were 175, 200, 225 for As1-As3
While the EVR/LAZ scale was 200, 225, 250
Second As2 now saying they got 225 base…am I missing something
MS base goes 175 -> 225 -> 225. It has been that way for a while
That’s terrible. I made almost as much / more in bonus as an A1 and A2
These are shocking, given the rumored PJT numbers it’s becoming almost impossible to justify bulges over the EBs
I have seen some numbers through the site – which ones are you looking at if you don't mind?
This is not news in the slightest. strong EBs have been crushing BB comp at junior levels for over a decade.
This is only true if you're optimizing for immediate comp... I'd much rather be a mid-level VP at MS than PJT, cash discount aside. So much easier to build a book/client base at a BB than an EB.
Have a horrible feeling about JPM bonuses across the CIB coming out EOM.
Date? Do you know when GS reports bonuses?
GS always gives out numbers week of MLK day
gs bonuses being told Thursday the 16th
VP1 comp (VP2 this year)
Base: $275
Bonus: $235 (~$25k stock)
Bucket: they never explicitly tell you, but I assume top
IBD
Good number! Especially based on what else I’m seeing on this thread - congrats
Congrats, that’s a strong bonus
Congrats. Does MS use a standard % cash/stock split or varies significantly by level (aso / vp / d)?
I couldn't say. I guess the stock component only goes up in relative terms because base gets capped and stock units are the main talent retention tool banks have
Have you heard any ranges for VP2 or VP3?
making my canadian bb bonus look good. i wasnt happy with ~$250k
Possibly explains why that Canadian bank is no where on league tables
RBC eh
RBC is 8 or 9 on US league tables as far as I can see
Anyone with idea about MS bonuses in Asia?
Pad Thai and chilli sauce
with a Krating Daeng to boost performance
This is not a good sign for the rest of the BBs…
UK numbers anyone?
MS always pay like a LMM bank
You're a fool to stay at a bulge bracket after the associate 2 year. The comp apparently sucks and a good chunk is paid out in stock.
The EBs are in a separate industry from a comp perspective
There's a reason for that though - it's a very tough gig being an MD at an EB without credit / S&T / research support. So it's not like you can spend two years at BB and then lateral to EB and enjoy much higher comp with no risk. There's a lot bigger of a safety cushion for seniors at BBs, you can make a decent living off just capital markets revenue.
Based off my older mentors it seems much easier to build a client book at a BB and rise to MD (with support from the S&T/ER/capital markets infrastructure) than at an EB, where clients are protected by more senior MDs and there's no cross-sell opportunities where you can make yourself known to potential clients.
Ideal IB career path seems to be making it to at least D, if not MD at a BB then moving to an EB with a nice guarantee + higher share of economics.
Bump uk anyone?
