Moving from Wealth Management to IB

Hello all,

Let me start by apologizing for rehashing what seems to be a stale topic on this forum, but to clarify I'm not so much asking how possible a shift from wealth management to IB is, as much as I'm asking with my personal circumstances what would be the best actions for me to take going forward.

A bit of background, I managed to get into financial services a bit after high school, obtained my licenses with FINRA and soon after transitioned into wealth management. I have not yet completed my undergrad, I currently go to a state school with very few alumni in IB. I keep my grades up (4.0 at the time of writing), and could reasonably attempt to transfer to a target school or at least a school with some more leads. However, what's largely holding me back from course correcting and going for the more traditional route is that the wealth management branch I work for is a business unit within the structure of a globally present IB. I have direct access to recruiters, analysts, associates, etc. And I'm certain that I could reasonably network and develop relationships with them. I would be treated as an internal hire.

So with consideration for the context presented should I just complete my state school undergrad, seek work in an adjacent unit to the IB (any suggestions there would be appreciated) and complete a target MBA, utilize connections and hopefully get a role? Or should I course correct aim to go a more traditional path? I like the idea of seeking to be a lateral hire but any insights or other ways I could/should go about things would be appreciated.

Thank you.
