MSCI Barra
What exactly does MSCI Barra do? I've been reading through their website, and I'm still a bit confused (partly because I only understand every other word written on it). Do they just make models that institutional investors can use in their work? Or do they actually take part in trading themselves? Any ideas?
they just provide products.... they do not take part in trading themselves... msci provides index products and barra provides risk management products...not very exciting... most of the work is sales or operational....
I have a friend who is starting there this summer in a modeling/analytical position. He is going to help design the indices. Kind of a research position. also have a friend starting in a client services role. they design the indices that track the markets and sectors of various countries and stock markets. Investors can invest in the indices through various channels.
Ok, doesn't sounds terribly exciting. Cheers for that.
