My Plan - Would like to get an internship
Alright, let me know if this makes sense. For summer 2007, i would like to get an internship at a somewhat lower level BB (i.e. UBS, Bear, etc). Why? the reason is b/c i hear these banks give out substantially more full time offers (% wise) than say MS or GS, which i hear only give roughly 40% of interns offers. So, say i take an internship at a lesser bank, get a full time offer, then couldn
Sounds good.
if you don't have profile to get interview in the first place with GS/MS, then your question is totally irrelevant. If you have the profile, can you resist temptation to apply/interview with them?
if you interview with GS/MS and don't get offer, then your question is moot again. If you do, can you resist temptation to accept their offer over say Bear?
If you go to Bear, and end up not getting an offer nevertheless (process has good portion of randomness/politics involved), can you resist temptation of jumping under a train in disgust?
why wouldnt you get an offer at MS or GS???
an offer from a lower BB does not guarantee an offer from GS/MS.
That said, it is obviously a lot easier for the same candidate to get the job with an offer under his/her belt.
***If you interview for a summer position at GS/MS and turn them down, they may not offer you a FT position later.
Success favors the bold. Anyway, friend, don't count your chickens before they hatch. This is the equivalent of masturbation until you have internships offers.
anyone comment just how true it is that MS/GS offers roughly 40% of their candidates full time offers while a UBS equivalent will offer about 80%?
