Navigating unresponsive superior.

Hi Monkeys,

Wanted to ask for some insight. Recently I've been given new responsibilities within my team as part of my promotion. While I'm all for it, they are aspects of the deal process that I'm very new to and still need training/guidance. As a result I tend to have to reach out the VP above me but he's incredibly unresponsive (doesn't respond to any messages or pings i send). Only time he does is if I loop in a D/MD but he (VP) won't explain what I'm supposed to do, he'll just do it himself and not tell me what was done/how to handle in the future. So my question is: How do I navigate this? I can't risk making a mistake on the deliverables and getting dinged on performance on my own, but when I ask for help he just does it and doesn't train me up so I cant do it myself which means ill have to reach out him again in the future. At this point I feel like the only option is to tell my D, but ill still have to work with this VP and would like to keep the relationship positive (or at least, not make it worst then it already is). Thoughts?
