Was wondering if a written recommendation to the head of IB recruiting from a family contact at a BB bank, but not working in IB (hes a director in audit) can make enough of an impact to get a first round from a non-target. (Great GPA, okay internship)
I understand after a first round, the rest is on me. Was wondering how this would compare to a basic referral from a banker.
Perhaps I should continue to leverage the contact to get IB referrals as well, but also don’t want to insult the contact by doubting their pull.

He’s a director of markets operational risk at a large BB (think BAML, Barclays etc), been there 10+ years, ik it’s not banking but u think that’s a discard ?
