No SIE / Series 79 / 63
Started working at a IB shop last month as an analyst. We were not required to take the SIE and were not sponsored for the Series 79 or 63 by the firm. I was confused because all of my friends at other shops were required to pass these before they could start working.
Is there any reason your firm wouldn't sponsor analyst for this (I'm assuming it costs $$)? If it is purely a money saving move, why wouldn't all firms do this across the street until the analysts are promoted to associate? This would avoid them having to pay for someone that was leaving for the buy-side in 2 years anyway.
Congrats on Stifel
close but wrong, thanks anyways tho!
Citizens ?
Congrats on exposing urself maybe
yea at this point im confused as to if these exams are legally required for someone to ask as an ib analyst.
Given you aren’t a licensed representative, pretty sure your name can’t be on any marketing materials and may limit what you are allowed to do on deals. Also the costs aren’t that expensive (worked in a boutique and talked to our operations team often) so do question the validity of the shop you are at. Never heard of a firm that didn’t license their front office employees…
Maybe he’s CB and thinks he’s in IB
RayJ - problem with hitting it first is that they make it hard to pull out for another bank

Heard GHL doesn't require, wondering why
Is this true?
heard this also
Ik RJ has it optional for analyst to get the licenses but expects them at the associate level
lazard is also not required so not that big of a deal tbh
ok so why tf are the banks requiring these tests requiring them.
